2022 Minnesota Avenue Main Street Small Business Resilience Grant (District of Columbia)

With support from the D.C. Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD), the Minnesota Avenue Main Street (MAMS) is excited to open the 2022 Minnesota Avenue Main Street Small Business Resilience Grant.

Details: 

The Grant helps small businesses along the Minnesota Avenue commercial corridor prosper in place through the provision of financial assistance and one-on-one technical assistance.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance will be provided to businesses experiencing significant financial losses resulting from disruptions or that have experienced significant financial losses, resulting from, but not limited to, the COVID-19  pandemic. Grants can be used towards, but are not limited to:

  • Working capital to help existing businesses adapt their business model and meet changing customer demand.
  • Physical improvements (i.e. tenant fit-outs, permanent fixtures, and/or exterior building improvements).

Technical Assistance

Grant awardees will also be eligible to receive one-on-one technical assistance in the following areas:

  • Business branding and marketing to help redesign and/or pivot your business model strategy; develop your business continuity plan; strengthen digital retail experiences, including e-commerce platforms and/or online shops to bolster brick-and-mortar businesses; advertising, including radio, TV, and print ads.
  • Financial assistance for accounting, cash flow issues, and credit repair.
  • General support for the creation and revision of your business plans, exploration of new market opportunities, grant readiness support, and legal assistance.

Funding Information

Grants will be awarded in amounts ranging from $2,500 – $5,000.

Eligibility Criteria

Grants funds will be awarded to small businesses based on the following criteria:

  • Location: your small business must be located within the Minnesota Avenue Main Street boundary.
  • Business type: you must be a small, D.C.-based for-profit business with an active D.C. business license for your location.
  • Certificate of Good Standing: your business must be in Good Standing with the District of Columbia.
  • Certificate of Clean Hands: you must have a certificate of Clean Hands with the District.
  • DUNS Number: your number will be required as part of the application process.
  • Liability insurance: your insurance must be active.
  • Consent from the property owner(s): must be included in your application for all physical improvements to be considered.
