Details:

BCUW is seeking proposals for 1-year micro-grants to begin in spring 2023. The intent of the micro-grant opportunity is to build capacity forBrown County organizations and associations in community building activities, programs, or projects that strengthen the fabric of Green Bay neighborhoods.

This Request for Proposals (RFP) is for agencies and/or associations interested in community development programs, projects, and activities that will strengthen Green Bay neighborhoods.

Purpose

NPGs are intended to catalyze community building by supporting local organizations and associations to come together, form and build new relationships, strengthen existing relationships, and address a need or issue of concern at the neighborhood level. They encourage applicants to engage neighborhood residents and collaborate with other groups, organizations, etc. in the proposal and in program implementation.

BCUW Impact Investment Priorities

The intent of the micro grant is to provide funding to support a community project, program or activity that aligns with BCUW Impact Investment Priorities.

  • Physical environment: enhancements to communal physical spaces for beautification, safety, and wellness.
  • Social environment: neighborhood efforts that build resident relationships.
  • Individual Well-Being: youth, family, individual, and senior educational and/or enrichment programs.
  • Neighborhood Well-Being: residential development and educational programs.
  • Access to Resources: connection to community resources and/or programs that support financial stability, health and well-being, education.

Project Ideas

Proposed projects, programs, and/or activities should generate community interest and volunteer participation. Projects must be specific, small in scale, have a realistic plan and build on the assets of their local neighborhoods. Below are examples of the types of projects that could qualify. This list should be used as a guide. Proposed projects are not limited to these examples:

  • Neighborhood beautification
  • Neighborhood leadership development
  • Festivals and neighborhood socials
  • Neighborhood gardens, food programs
  • Resident/neighborhood safety programs
  • Resident health and well-being programs
  • Family engagement programs/projects/activities
  • Neighborhood financial literacy program
  • Child, family, senior service, enrichment, academic programs
  • Neighborhood art projects.

Funding Information

  • The minimum request considered is $1,000 and the maximum request will not exceed $10,000.
  • Grants must be completed within the one-year funding cycle (May 15, 2023 – May 15, 2024).

Eligibility Criteria

Proposal must adhere to the following requirements:

  • Proposed projects, programs, and/or activities must take place within the Cohort 1 and/or Cohort 2. Applications that target one or both designated cohorts are permissible. All funds will be spent within the designated geographic area specified in this application.
  • Eligible applicant organizations must be in existence for at least two years. Proposed programs/projects/activities can be new or existing.
  • Individual or collaborative applications will be accepted. Partnership with another organization(s) requires the submitter to be the designated fiscal agent for the collaborative.
    • Collaborative proposals: defined as two or more organizations partnering on the proposal and involves a fiscal partnership, and/or a program component relating to the proposal.
      • Define how each partner will be involved in program implementation.
      • Specify contributions, highlight the resources, staff, facilities, and expertise each partner will provide. Contributions should be outlined in the narrative section of the proposal.
  • Organizations that previously received an NPG or are currently receiving United Way funding through other grant applications are eligible to apply.
  • A project performance report, demographic report, and financial report are required shortly after the project/program/activity completion and will be submitted via the BCUW grant management system (e-Cimpact).
  • Grantees must agree to and sign BCUW’s NPG program funding agreement.
  • Funds shall be used solely for the granted purpose. Grantees shall communicate and submit a program amendment with BCUW regarding any changes/updates in the funded program/project/activity. Approval of the amendment is required by BCUW before program changes can occur.
