2023 CFF Early Childhood Strategic Grant Program (New Hampshire and Vermont)

Dated: June 13, 2023

The Couch Family Foundation is pleased to announce its Early Childhood Strategic Grant Program to ensure young children have access to equitable, high-quality early education and care, health services, and family supports.

Donor Name: Couch Family Foundation

State: New Hampshire and Vermont

County: Grafton County (NH), Sullivan County (NH), Orange County (VT) and Windsor County (VT)

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 07/31/2023

Details:

The Foundation specifically focuses on:

  • Upper Valley Capacity Building – provides grants and direct community engagement to support organizations, networks, and programs that promote family well-being and children’s health, early learning, and development within the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont as well as across the state of New Hampshire
  • Statewide System-Building – collaboration with public and private partners to build statewide capacity in New Hampshire for leadership, advocacy, and effective public policies that support strong systems of care for children and families
  • Research & Innovation – creates opportunities for Foundation and community learning through research, innovative program development, and collaboration and engagement with community partners working to improve outcomes for young children and caregivers.

The Upper Valley is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family, with world-class hospitals, institutions of higher education, innovative businesses and community-based organizations, natural beauty, and close-knit towns and villages where all children can have an opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive. They build on these community assets by:

  • Supporting existing programs that promote positive outcomes for young children and their families
  • Creating new and innovative solutions to address persistent community challenges
  • Fostering opportunities for convening, learning, and collaboration for collective impact.

Three Strategic Pillars

  • Early Learning: High quality early childhood education builds the foundation for life-long success. Through grant making and community engagement, they aim to strengthen the capacity of educators and caregivers in the Upper Valley to nurture and support the healthy development of young children and their families
  • Children’s Health: All children deserve access to affordable, quality health care and mental health supports—including developmental screenings, pre and post-natal care, preventative care, and maternal mental health supports—that help kids thrive and reach their potential
  • Family Strengthening: A healthy childhood starts at home, with strong, nurturing, and resilient families. Home visiting, parent education, and child and family supports help ensure that all adults and caregivers have the necessary knowledge and skills to support their children’s development.

Geographical Areas

The Foundation’s early childhood grants support direct service organizations and networks in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont, as well as organizations in New Hampshire working to build strong and equitable systems of care for young children ages birth through five.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must have 501(c)3 nonprofit status or fiscal sponsorship through a 501(c)3 organization
  • The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, religious organizations, or “start-up” organizations
  • Grants are not made to public, private, or independent elementary and secondary schools. Trustees will consider requests from nonprofit organizations whose purpose is to enhance the learning opportunities and well-being of children in school.
