Call for Artists: Prism Global Mural Project – Texas

The City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture is seeking muralists/visual artists to participate in the Prism Global Mural Project.

Detail:

An artist or artist collective will be selected to paint multiple murals with an internationally ethnic theme. Community outreach and participation in the creation and execution of the murals must be a proposal component.

Artists must provide proposals with a theme that is relevant to the rich history and representation of the transnational community in which the murals will be created. This project will require painting murals on planters (circular and square), bollards, and the disposal container storage area located at Prism at Midtown (5580Peterson Ln, Dallas, TX 75240) in Council District 11.

The Prism Global Mural Project is an opportunity for artists to showcase their work providing an artistic focal point in their Dallas neighborhoods as they enhance the look of our city one community at a time.

Funding Information

  • The artist/artist collective selected will be awarded $5,000 to engage community residents and to complete the mural/visual art piece.

Guidelines

  • Art piece must contain the following:
    • OAC logos
    • Universal/international theme
  • Artists will go through a panel selection process. The highest-scoring artist will be selected for the project.
  • Applicants must not have defaulted on any OAC contracts within the previous 12 months.
  • Artists/Collective must submit a description of their proposed vision for a murals.
  • Final sketches must meet the approval of the OAC Community Arts staff.
  • Up to 5 images of samples of previous works can be submitted for style references.
  • Samples must be in a jpeg or pdf format.
  • Insurance may be required of artists and organizations recommended for funding and contracting with the City of Dallas.
  • Proposals must be submitted via the online application system by the due date. Hard copies of applications will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • Applicants must reside or have an administrative office in the city of Dallas.
