Neighborhood Improvement Grant Program promote projects that improve a neighborhood’s physical condition, enhance pride and identity, increase neighborhood communication, and bring new assets to the neighborhood that foster gathering and positive experiences. Examples of projects include clean-up events, community message boards, community benches, and little free libraries. Please note that little free libraries are not affiliated with any Aurora Public Library programs.
Goals
The goals of this program include:
- Improving the physical condition of a neighborhood
- Enhancing neighborhood pride and identity
- Connecting neighbors and fostering a strong sense of community
- Encouraging “place-making” by bringing assets into the neighborhood that encourage gathering and positive experiences.
Funding Information
The city allocated $60,000 for grants for 2023, with a maximum of $5,000 per awarded project
Eligibility Criteria
- Neighborhood organizations and residents (where a neighborhood organization may not exist) are encouraged to apply
- Projects must be located within the city of Aurora and have a community benefit
- If your neighborhood is not yet registered with the city of Aurora’s Neighborhood Registration Program, registration will be required upon application
- Must have at least 3 residents who LIVE in the neighborhood to serve as project coordinators
- All projects must include permission from the property owner, HOA board, or entity that is responsible for the maintenance of the project location
- Projects must have high visibility to the surrounding streets, neighborhoods and adjacent owners
- Proposed landscaping must have irrigation and each project must adhere to applicable City codes and ordinances
- Before and after pictures of the site must be shown to verify the completion of the project.
