The City of Cortland has established the Cortland Business Facade Grant Program for businesses located within the city.
The goal of this initiative is to improve the visual appearance of the city and be a conduit of development and revitalization within the community. These grants are for the purpose of improving the aesthetic appearance of the building’s facade. A facade is defined as the front of a building or any side of a building facing a public way. This includes improvements to the exterior walls, lighting, awnings, windows, doors, and landscaping.
Funding Information
- A total of $15,000 in grant funds will be selected for the 2023 year.
- The city would like to offer a 25% match up to $2,500.
Rules and Regulation
- A “before” photograph and signed Property photo release form (waiver) must be submitted with the application.
- Projects must be started after grant funding is allocated.
- The City of Cortland will reimburse the grant applicant 25% of the total project cost up to $2,500.00.
- Three quotes must be submitted with the Facade Grant Application to be eligible.
- Upon completion of a project, businesses must notify the Service Director for an inspection and final approval and an “after” photograph.
- For reimbursements to be issued the following must be provided: receipts or copies of receipts; a W-9 form for the grant applicant; and an itemized project budget must be submitted with the requisition form
- Reimbursement will be issued in the name of the grant applicant with one (1) check.
- Projects must be completed by December 20, 2024 in order to receive their reimbursement.
- All projects will be considered economic development. Project photos, data, or impact may be shared In respect to economic development reports.
- Applicants must submit a before and after photo with the project submission.
