City of Indianapolis Neighborhood Grants Program – Indiana

The City of Indianapolis Neighborhood Grants Program is designed to support the engagement, collective action, and increased development of all neighborhoods and neighborhood-based organizations.

This program seeks to reinforce the strengths and assets within Indianapolis’ neighborhoods by providing financial resources for projects and activities that are designed to increase resident engagement, promote neighborhood action, and establish new and stronger relationships among neighbors, grassroots organizations, and other stakeholders.

Funding Information

Applicants may request grants from $2,500 to $10,000.

Eligible Projects 

The following are examples of eligible projects for this program:

  • Community Areas (gathering spaces, shelter, benches, furnishes, etc.)
  • Community Gardens
  • Neighborhood Clean-Ups
  • Neighborhood (Gateway) Sign
  • Neighborhood Informational Signage
  • Tree Planting or Landscaping in Community Areas
  • Murals or Public Art Installation.

Eligibility Criteria 

To be considered for a Project grant, an applicant must be Registered Neighborhood Organization “RNOs” (through the Department of Metropolitan Development’s RNO Portal), in addition to the following requirements:

  • A representative from each project applicant must attend one online workshop on October 18 or November 3, 2023;
  • Be located within Marion County, Indiana;
  • Be located within Qualified Census Tracts (“QCT”) or within a ZIP Code with a COVID-19 Impact Score greater than zero
  • Be (or partner with) a recognized 501(c)(3) organization that can serve as a fiscal agent to accept grant funds;
  • Grant funds must be used on an eligible project within one (1) year of award notification;
  • Only one application per Registered Neighborhood Organization per round is eligible to apply; and,
  • Neighborhood organizations cannot receive a Neighborhood Grant until they have completed any previous Neighborhood Grant and submitted all documentation (receipts, budget, report, etc.).
