Types of Events
Events that are eligible must meet the following criteria:
- The event is open to the general public; and
- The event can be identified as major or significant because it draws from the immediate market area; and
- The event promotes the City of Mankato, its mission, the identity of the city, and/or is a significant event to the community and/or region; and
- The event is non-profit or has a non-profit charitable benefactor; and
- The event has a significant broad based economic impact for the Mankato area community which is focused on more than a single area of commerce; and
- Proceeds for the event are redistributed to the community and not used for operations or fundraising strategies of the organization.
Funding Information
Due to the amount of funding available and the number of requests, applicants will be eligible for no more than $2,000. Applying for a grant does not guarantee receipt of funding.
Grants can be used for
- Special event staffing and labor costs for set-up and take down.
- Police services
- Fire services
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- be legally registered and in good standing as a not-for-profit; or
- be an organizing committee with a sponsoring organization with a not-for-profit status; and
- be a City of Mankato based organization, holding an event in the City of Mankato.
The City of Mankato will NOT fund:
- An existing deficit from a previous event.
- Applicants that are a governmental organization/agency or subsidiary thereof.
- Individuals who do not reside in Mankato.
- Organizations which lack base in Mankato.
- Applicants who submit late and/or incomplete applications.
