The City of San Antonio’s Noise Mitigation Program assists local business owners by offsetting part of qualifying costs designed to reduce noise emissions.

Details:

Through this investment, the City hopes to enable voluntary adherence to noise ordinances, creating a stronger community environment for businesses, patrons and local residents.

Benefits

Businesses may be eligible to receive up to 75% of expenses related to noise mitigation. Eligible expenses include consulting fees, purchase price of equipment, and installation and renovation costs. The maximum payment available through this program is $7,500.

Examples of eligible items include but are not limited to:

  • Sound absorbing panels and curtains
  • Acoustic doors and windows
  • Acoustic foam
  • Bass traps
  • Mass loaded vinyl
  • Enclosing outdoor entertainment areas
  • Directional speakers
  • Sound monitors

The City encourages applicants to seek consultation when choosing upgrades to include in the application.

Eligibility Criteria

  • San Antonio small food & beverage businesses (NAICS Codes: 722410, 722511, 722513, 722514, and 722515) with less than $9 million in gross revenue for 2022 may be eligible. Business locations must be zoned for commercial use, and have no outstanding code violations.
  • Additionally, businesses must have been in operation at their current location prior to March 2022.

Required Information/Documentation

Applicants will need the following information and documentation:

  • Business information
  • Contact information
  • Driver’s license or other government-issued identification
  • Lease, mortgage, or utility bill showing occupancy prior to March 2022
  • Proof of business registration with Bexar County or the State of Texas
  • Quote for intended purchases
  • Explanation for how the purchase will work towards reducing nuisance noise for neighbors
