Details:
The purposes of the Trust are set forth in the Trust Agreement. These purposes are:
- to support projects and programs of the City or other nonprofit institutions that benefit the City’s inhabitants and improve or enhance the quality of life of the City’s inhabitants or aid civic or other public improvements;
- to promote and advance the social welfare of the inhabitants of the City;
- to promote and support educational and recreational programs, facilities and opportunities within the City;
- to promote and support economic development and employment opportunities within the City;
- to fund public works within or benefiting the City; and.
- to advance the general welfare of the City and its residents.
Funding Information
Requested amount should not exceed $65,000. Average award amount is anticipated to be between $10,000 and $25,000.
Project Period
Activities requesting funding from this application must take place between July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025. All awarded funds must be expended out and accounted for by June 30, 2025.
Uses of funds
These grants are awarded to respond to new programs, emerging needs and innovative services that benefit the residents of the City of Murfreesboro for a broad array of impact areas such as economic development, tourism, health, education, welfare, safety, arts/culture, and enhanced public services. Of particular interest are proposal that are collaborative, address current unmet community needs, align with City of Murfreesboro Council Priorities, and provide long-term, sustainable solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Qualify as one of the following entities eligible for application:
- Charitable: 501(c)(3) (Nonprofit organizations legally chartered in Tennessee and in possession of a determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service declaring the organization a public charity.)
- Civic: 501(c)4 or (c)(6)
- The project takes place within Murfreesboro City limits and provides benefit to City.
- Organization operates year-round (provides beneficial community services 12 months out of the year.)
- Program services are open to all without discrimination and exclusion.
- Facility location and services are ADA compliant.
- Project aligns with the purpose of the Trust.
Ineligible Expenses
Funds from the Community Investment Trust cannot be used for:
- Advertising/Sponsorships
- Fundraising events, including festivals, runs/walks, tournaments, dinners, etc. (Annual campaigns/Endowment campaigns)
- Biomedical or clinical studies/research
- Capital Campaigns (including major construction projects)
- Debt retirement or restructuring
- Programs of a religious nature or programs requiring participation in religious activities or adherence to a particular set of beliefs as a condition for receiving services
- Lobbying activities/Political activities
- Participation Stipends (no direct payments to individuals) or Incentives to participate (gift cards, etc)
