The Public Art and Community Dialogue program, led by the Fred Hutch Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, provides an opportunity for artists, employees and the broader community to be in dialogue about community solidarity and their pursuit of equity in research and healthcare.
The program explores a new way to foster connections between science and underrepresented communities through dialogue and art and embodies the Hutch’s pursuit of scientific excellence through more robust anti-racism and inclusion efforts.

Selected artists will also receive $5,000 for their commission and participation in the program.
Eligibility Criteria
- This call is open to AANHPI visual artists, or artist teams, who are 18 years of age or older and are residents of Washington state, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Wyoming. The selected artists must be able to provide a tax identification number or social security number.
- Artists who work in a variety of visual media will be considered. Examples of media include, but are not limited to, traditional art, digital art, collage, graphic art, mixed media and textiles.
- Fred Hutch and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance employees and staff are not eligible to apply at this time.
- For this engagement, Fred Hutch is accepting applications from visual artists that identify with the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. Future calls will be held for artists of other backgrounds including: LGBTQIA+, Hispanic, Latinx and Jewish communities.
