The Safe in the 305 Grant is a Peace & Prosperity Plan initiative that is geared to encourage, support, and empower community stakeholders to lead efforts in their community. The Peace & Prosperity Plan is an evidence-based prevention, intervention and reentry strategy which aims to address the needs of the youth, families and communities impacted by gun violence and tackles the underlying causes to create real reform.
The Safe in the 305 grant program is designed to incentivize and encourage resident leaders and organizations to promote peace and prosperity across communities, by funding community-driven actions that make their own neighborhoods safer.
The goals of the Safe in the 305 Grant program are to activate community participation in creating safer neighborhoods, amplify the voices of residents and community leaders against violence, build capacity in communities and bridge gaps with neighborhood stakeholders and government to address quality of life issues.
Peace & Prosperity Impact Areas
- Prevention
- services and programs that enhance the overall well-being of people by preventing major challenges, breaking cycles and supporting positive outcomes including, but not limited to, education, health services, housing and more
- Intervention
- alternative programs that may include education, training, redirection and treatment
- Reentry
- programs and services to support the reintegration of returning citizens into the community, including, but not limited to, workforce development, housing, restorative justice, mental/emotional wellness, family reunification and basic needs
- Economic Investment
- investments in housing, commercial and business development
- Community Revitalization
- addressing neighborhood blight though remediation and beautification
Funding Information
The Safe in the 305 Grant program will award microgrants to applicants seeking funding support that range from $500.00 (minimum) to $1,500.00 (maximum).
Examples include, but not limited to:
- Youth sports and arts programs
- Create and/or expand food pantries and community gardens
- Neighborhood/block cleanups
- Identification cards for returning citizens
Eligibility Criteria
Residents, community leaders and advocates, community and faith-based organizations and grassroots groups may apply.
Qualification Requirements
- A resident of, or an organization based in, Miami-Dade County (must provide proof of address)
- Applicant must be able to show how their proposal aligns with the objectives of the grant in the current application round
- Proposals must support neighborhood-centered activities and initiatives
- Applicant must have a valid email address to receive and respond to grant-related correspondence
