The Hawaiʻi People’s Fund is accepting online proposals for its Kūpaʻa Grants to support organizations that have been working successfully on social justice issues for a number of years.

Details:

Kūpaʻa Grants are available to any group, including organizations that have been working successfully on social justice issues for a number of years. Applicants must demonstrate a proven track record of at least 3 years of community-led impact and are encouraged to submit requests for general operating funds. Previously funded HPF grantees in good standing shall receive priority consideration.

  • Kūpaʻa Grants support requests of up to $10,000.
  • Regular grant funding is limited to one grant award in a 12-month period.

Eligibility Criteria

Organizations who do not have federal non-profit 501(c) (3), tax-exempt status may apply for funding; however, HPF strongly recommends securing a fiscal sponsor to protect your team from liability and minimize tax burden. The nature of the work must conform to the mission of Hawai‘I People’s Fund as well as the legal federal definitions of charitable and not-for-profit activities. If your group does not have a bank account in its name, a fiscal sponsor with 501(c) (3) status will be required to receive the grant award.
