Texas: Lower Colorado River Authority announces Community Development Partnership Program

Dated: January 3, 2022

The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) has launched the Community Development Partnership Program (CDPP) to help local governments, emergency responders and nonprofit organizations fund capital improvement projects that might otherwise not be possible.

Donor Name: Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA)

State: Texas

County: Selected Counties

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline (mm/dd/yyyy): 01/31/2022

Grant Size: $5,000

Grant Duration: 12 months

Details:

Grant-funded projects must have physical addresses located within LCRA’s wholesale electric or water service area, or areas in which LCRA Transmission Services Corporation provides transmission services.

CDPP grants are awarded twice a year for capital projects for volunteer fire departments, emergency responders, cities and counties, schools, libraries, civic groups, museums and other nonprofit organizations. The projects must benefit or be available to an entire community and must improve the value of a capital asset by building, renovating or purchasing equipment.

Funding Information

Applicants requesting more than $5,000 in grant funding must supply matching funds of at least 20 percent of the total project cost. Grants larger than $25,000 are intended for particularly impressive and noteworthy projects with a far-reaching impact on a broad community. The larger grant category is extremely competitive, as funding in the $25,000+ category is limited to 30 percent of the grants awarded. There is a minimum request of $1,000.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Organizations in all or part of the following counties are eligible for CDPP grants: Aransas, Austin, Bandera, Bastrop, Blanco, Brown, Burleson, Burnet, Caldwell, Callahan, Cameron, Coke, Coleman, Colorado, Comal, Concho, Coryell, Crane, Crockett, Culberson, DeWitt, Dimmit, Eastland, Ector, Edwards, Fayette, Gillespie, Goliad, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hamilton, Harris, Hays, Hidalgo, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Lampasas, Lavaca, Lee, Llano, Mason, Matagorda, Maverick, McCulloch, Medina, Menard, Midland, Mills, Nolan, Nueces, Pecos, Real, San Patricio, San Saba, Schleicher, Starr, Sterling, Sutton, Taylor, Terrell, Tom Green, Travis, Upton, Uvalde, Val Verde, Waller, Washington, Wharton and Williamson.
  • Projects must be for capital improvements, and must meet a need in one of the following areas: education, transportation, public safety, recreation, health care, fire department training, community planning or employment.
  • The physical address of the project must be in LCRA’s service area.
  • The project must be completed within 12 months of the date the grant is received. Failure to complete the project on schedule or abide by the terms of the letter agreement may result in LCRA requiring the recipient to return the grant.
  • Grants of more than $5,000 require a minimum 20 percent match of the total project cost; matching funds must be documented in the application.
  • The grant recipient must post signage that clearly, permanently and publicly acknowledges the sponsorship of LCRA and LCRA’s wholesale electric customer serving the recipient’s area, if applicable.
