What Makes a Good Nomination

Think of this nomination as a job interview. A compelling nomination will

  • Get to the point! Many questions have a character limit of 2,000 characters (including spacing and punctuation). They suggest creating your responses in a Word document and copying into the nomination form.
  • It leaves out the unnecessary. Avoid fluff such as superfluous adjectives and empty praise. Don’t list an exhaustive resume of achievements/accomplishments; stick to the specific reasons why the nominee deserves recognition.
  • Make sure to highlight the big impact of your nominee’s work professionally, but don’t be repetitive.
  • Quantify your answers. How much revenue did a new innovation generate or what percentage of growth did the company recognize?

Common Myth

  • The more times you submit a nomination the higher the odds of winning. Judging is based solely on the quality of the answers, not the quantity
  • You can’t nominate someone 2 years in a row. Many past winners were nominated 2-3 times before achieving the honor.
  • Name dropping increases the candidate’s chances. It doesn’t.
  • Describing a nominee as a “nice person” who is “well liked” matters. Judging is based on accomplishments and contributions.
  • All that matters is if the person does their job really well. Most people strive to do a good job. We are looking for the people who have taken on a role and transformed it, implemented game-changing innovation at their organization, or built their own business from the ground up.

The bottom line: Tell us a story. We are looking for quantifiable results and a compelling narrative to share with our readers

Eligibility Requirements

  • The company must be headquartered in Colorado.
  • A C-level executive from your company is expected to attend the event on July 11, 2024.
  • Self nominations are encouraged.
