NextCycle Michigan announces Recycling Supply Chains (RSC) Program

NextCycle Michigan’s Recycling Supply Chains (RSC) teams are challenged to develop innovative projects that improve or expand the collection, processing, or end markets for recyclable materials in Michigan—especially plastics, textiles, glass, fibers, and C&D debris. This challenge track is seeking out projects that focus on the development of physical recycling supply chain infrastructure through hub and spoke systems, logistics, processing, or material end market innovations.

Teams accepted into the RSC Innovation Challenge Track will participate in an incubator experience designed to take their idea to the next level through:

  • Individualized project plan development and support
  • Access to business, industry and investment experts
  • Direct consulting support
  • Matchmaking with partners and funders
  • Workshops and networking events including
  • Business Bootcamp
  • Project Showcase
  • Investor Forum
  • Private and public funding opportunities

Who Should Join

  • Businesses, entrepreneurs, universities, communities, counties, regions, tribal entities, public agencies, or non-profits who have investable project ideas with the potential to increase material diversion, processing and end use are eligible to apply for this challenge. Cross sector partnerships and existing end markets from out of state are eligible to apply. Teams from underserved, under-resourced or under-represented communities are encouraged to apply.
  • Pre-Startup, Start Up, Early Growth and Mature stage projects will be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Teams accepted into RSC will show the potential for innovation aimed at diverting recyclable materials from the landfilled waste stream, potential for a sustainable business model, scalability and/or investor returns. Teams do not need to be headquartered in Michigan at the time of application, but to be accepted, the future project/ business idea must be implemented and based in Michigan.
