2023-2024 Community & Academic Partnership Program (CAPP) – Arizona

Dated: November 6, 2023

The University of Arizona Cancer Center Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (UACC COE) is pleased to announce the Community & Academic Partnership Program (CAPP).

Donor Name: University of Arizona Cancer Center Office of Community Outreach and Engagement

State: Arizona

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 02/16/2024

Size of the Grant: $10,000 to $100,000

Grant Duration: 2 Years

Details:

The CAPP encourages and supports the development of sustainable collaborations between the academic/scientific communities at the UACC and communities across Arizona. In this effort, the CAPP serves to address community identified cancer-related priorities. Grants funded using this mechanism will be community inspired and supported by UACC COE using a community academic partnership model.

CAPP sponsored grants will fund projects anywhere along the cancer continuum from prevention and early detection to survivorship and must include a research question that will be developed within a partnership between a community and a scientist. Proposals that focus on working directly with communities facing cancer-related health disparities are highly encouraged and will be given priority.

The mission of the CAPP is to work collaboratively with Arizona communities as partners with the UACC to create a cancer free Arizona. Through grant making, training/technical assistance and scientific input we aim to:

  • Support communities in identifying and addressing their most pressing cancer-related needs.
  • Enhance collaboration between communities and the UACC to address local cancer issues and cancer health disparities to formulate important research questions.
  • Foster the skills and abilities of communities to ensure the long-term sustainability of these efforts to address local cancer issues.
  • Create externally fundable efforts designed to directly address the priorities and cancer burden of Arizonans

Funding Information

Awards will be for $50K per year over the course of 2 years for a total of $100K. Year 2 funding is contingent on the progress report showing collaboratively set milestones being achieved.
