Details:

The KC Doula Program aims to provide financial assistance to help local doulas enhance services, expand their reach, and navigate the evolving landscape of maternal health care. Research consistently shows that doula care leads to improved maternal and infant health outcomes, including lower cesarean rates, shorter labors, decreased postpartum depression, and more personalized birthing experiences.

Up to $15,000.

Eligible Expenses

Program awardees who are not current Medicaid Providers must first apply program funding toward becoming a Medicaid Provider. Only then will other expenses be eligible for reimbursement. Grant funds can be used to cover a range of expenses that support the growth and sustainability of your doula practice, including but not limited to:

  • Training Costs: Fees associated with specialized continuing education. (i.e., Medicaid/MO HealthNet Enrollment, HIPAA Training, NPI Registration, EHR Compliance Training, etc.)
  • Insurance Costs: Premiums for professional liability insurance.
  • Entrepreneur Support: Costs related to business development, marketing, and administrative support.
  • Professional Development: Workshops, conferences, and other learning opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Other Expenses: If you have other specific needs that would support your doula practice, please outline them in your application budget.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Serve families within Kansas City, Missouri city limits.
  • Be a legally established business or nonprofit in Kansas City, Missouri.
  • Applicants for this program must be an enrolled Medicaid provider or intend to use program funds to gain Medicaid Provider status. A certified doula having provided services for at least 12 months.
