Details:
An unserved area is defined as a designated geographic area in which households or businesses do not have access to at least 50 megabits per second downstream speeds and 50 megabits per second upstream speeds.
Projects must be geographically located in Summit County and have economic development significance, including, but not limited to job creation and retention; business retention, relocation, or expansion; increased private investment; advancing innovation; enhancing manufacturing capacities; providing workforce development opportunities. In addition to project cost receipts, construction lien waivers must be provided prior to reimbursement of any construction project.
Funding Information
- Summit County Broadband Grant applications should be targeted to levels not to exceed $200,000.
- Projects must be completed within 12 months.
Eligible Expenses
The following types of expenses will be considered:
- Acquisition of land, rights of way, and easements necessary to construct high-speed broadband service infrastructure and related appraisal and transaction costs.
- Construction of high-speed broadband service infrastructure, including but not limited to fiberoptic cables and towers.
- Purchase and installation of equipment related to the deployment of high-speed broadband service infrastructure.
- Clearing and preparation of land necessary to construct high-speed broadband service infrastructure.
- Permit/License fees.
- Test of service costs.
- Public Involvement costs associated with eligible projects.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualified applicants must be physically located or have broadband infrastructure investments within Summit County. Applicants shall have the technical, managerial, and financial expertise to design, build and operate a high-speed broadband service infrastructure within Utah.
