Applicants may apply for project or program funding that supports its funding philosophy criteria:
- The City encourages innovation and a goal of self‐sufficiency for all initiatives funded by this program within 24 months. Accordingly, all organizations requesting funds from the City should continue efforts to develop stable private funding sources.
- Projects or programs which promote or benefit the St. Helena community with arts, culture, education, or support youth/family health and well-being initiatives and services. The minimum grant request is $1,000 and the maximum grant request is $20,000. The overall funding available is expected to be $75,000 per fiscal year. Submission of a complete application does not guarantee funding nor does receiving an award in the prior funding year.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility has been established by the City of St. Helena Nonprofit Funding Policy. All applicants must possess a current IRS Not-for-Profit determination letter (IRS Form501(c)(3)) and provide as proof that they are a nonprofit organization.
- Only one application per agency per category will be considered each year.
- Grants are for programmatic expenses only (items recognized under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as operating costs).
- The City will not fund the purchase, maintenance, or repair of capital assets.
- All applications must be submitted by the published deadline, be complete and contain all requested information and documents in order to be considered for funding.
- Nonprofit organizations must be in existence for at least one year by December 31st of the year preceding the application deadline.
