The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) is offering small grants to community groups to engage directly with the Executive Climate Change Coordinating Council (EC4), RIDEM, and consultants working to prepare Rhode Island’s 2025 Climate Action Strategy.
Donor Name: Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management
State: Rhode Island
County: All Counties
Type of Grant: Grant
Deadline: 12/15/2023
Size of the Grant: $10,000 to $100,000
Grant Duration: 2 Years
Details:
The Strategy will include multiple pathways and projects that will lead Rhode Island to a carbon-neutral future. To help better develop and implement these programs and policies so that they reflect the goals and needs of the community, they are asking community groups to provide outreach, engagement, and facilitation support.
RIDEM is making funding available to 501c3 groups and their partners to facilitate community discussions around elements of the 2025 Climate Action Strategy. It is intention that partners will provide stipends and other supports to community members who take part in meetings, workgroups, and other engagement opportunities. If you are a group without a 501c3 designation, you can partner with another community group that will either be a fiscal sponsor or will partner with you. Each partner group will propose methods to engage their community through workshops, activities, and educational opportunities. Each group should identify a project lead who will attend EC4 meetings and public engagement meetings with the consultants. A final report will be required with a summary of community recommendations, outcomes from engagement activities, and project metrics. There will be a required check-in meeting half way through the project period to assess progress. RIDEM reserves the right to partially fund projects and allocate funds so that can have the broadest community reach.
The goal of this funding opportunity is to:
- Support community groups to engage with the team developing the 2025 Climate Action Strategy.
- Identify programs and projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also reducing health disparities, enhancing community leadership, and increasing community resilience.
- Build knowledge and capacity in the community to facilitate a transition away from fossil fuels.
