Details:
Determine the level of financial investment required for Centers for Independent Living to effectively and comprehensively meet the needs of individuals with disabilities throughout the state of Minnesota.
The Minnesota Association of Centers for Independent Living (“MACIL”) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to advocate for a statewide network of independent living services and supports for Minnesotans with disabilities throughout the State.
Together (i.e., MNSILC and MACIL) these organizations are dedicated to promoting the independent living movement and ensuring individuals with disabilities have self-determination: making choices, being allowed to fail, and having access to appropriate services.
Project Outcomes
- Expansion of the Previous Study – build upon the findings of the prior needs assessment study that was completed in 2015, with a focus on the following critical components:
- Determining size and scope of identified recipients;
- Determine what is required to provide a full array of services statewide;
- Economic contribution of individuals with disabilities, both receiving services and not receiving services;
- Reduction of services due to population decreases; and
- Lack of programs and service
- Key factors for the needs assessment will include:
- Individuals’ ineligible for waiver services;
- Immigrant families with disabilities;
- Diverse populations;
- Native American communities
- Youth and children;
- Older adults with disabilities;
- Availability of health care services;
- Incarcerated individuals
- Mental health research;
- Information and Referral services;
- All counties in the state of Minnesota; an
- Specific services, such as transportation, health care, recreational activities etc.
