Purpose
- To provide in support to projects offering arts experiences to the public in West Virginia. Projects in all artistic disciplines (visual, performing, media, literary, folk, etc.) are eligible.
- The total grant award cannot exceed 25% of an organization’s operating budget from the last completed fiscal year
Funding Information
Grants Up to $50,000.
Eligible Projects
- Presenting a concert series
- Presenting a traveling exhibition in a local space
- Public art projects
- Hosting a juried exhibition of local artists
- Documenting a unique West Virginia tradition on film
- Creating new works in dance or theater
- Engaging artists in producing existing works of art in theater, dance, or music
Eligible Expenses
- Artists fees (performers, directors, choreographers, teaching artists, etc.)
- Technical services (sound, lighting, etc.)
- Space rentals
- Travel costs
- Production costs
- Marketing costs
- Long range planning and community cultural assessments
- Sign language interpreter fees; captioning; and the rental of assistive listening devices, temporary ramps, and Braille materials associated with presenting an arts project
Qualifications
- Been in existence for at least one year
- Submitted all final reports in conjunction with previous West Virginia Department of Tourism (WVDT) / West Virginia Commission on the Arts (WVCA) grants
- Are in good standing with the West Virginia Secretary of State’s office
- Have an active UEI
- Have a vendor number through
- Are not listed on state or federal debarment lists

- West Virginia 501 (c)(3) organizations with arts-related missions
- Local governments
- County school boards
- Colleges and universities
- Must demonstrate arts service to the community-at-large with no restriction to campus or special populations.
- May apply for a maximum of 33% of eligible costs.
