The American Medical Association (AMA) is launching the Community Health Impact Lab micro grants to support physician-led initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes at the community level.

Details:

This program funds innovative, community-centered projects that address a broad range of health-related challenges faced by populations with limited access to care. Through this initiative, the AMA seeks to empower physicians to implement creative solutions that respond to the unique challenges within their communities.

Goals and expected impact

  • Improve community health: support physician-led solutions that address health challenges, particularly faced by populations with limited access to care.
  • Encourage innovation: promote creative, practical interventions designed and led by physicians.
  • Identify scalable ideas: surface promising approaches that could be expanded or replicated to benefit other communities.

Funding Information

Grant amount: $50,000 per recipient.

Grant Period

12 months.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for a Community Health Impact Lab micro grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicant: only organizations eligible to apply.
  • Principal investigator: must be an actively licensed physician in the U.S. or its territories.

Requirements

  • Abstract: please informally describe your project in 3-4 sentences. The abstract should not exceed 200 words.
  • Project description: please describe the project’s activities including its novel and unique contribution to health-related challenges faced by populations with limited access to care. Other points to include:
  • Identification of partners
    • Purpose/goal
    • Intervention/approach
    • Target audience
    • Potential community impact
    • Scalability of the project
    • Plans to assess the scalability of the project
    • Potential challenges and how you will seek to mitigate those
    • Project timeline
    • Evaluation outcomes.
