The primary objectives of the cooperative agreement to be funded under this NOFO are to support states participating in the National Blue Alert Network and to raise awareness, educate, and inform nonBlue Alert states of the Blue Alert Network (e.g., production of an educational video, factsheets, newsletters, presentations, etc.), provide monthly summaries of Blue Alert activations throughout the country, including detailed accounts of heroism involving Blue Alert events, and research, gather, and compile accurate and timely information, from credible sources, about all reported incidents where on duty law enforcement throughout the United States, territories, and tribal lands are shot in the line of duty.
Program Goal and Objectives
Through this program, the COPS Office seeks applications for a project to support the COPS Office coordination efforts through
- educating and informing non–Blue Alert states of the Blue Alert Network (e.g., producing an educational video, factsheets, newsletters, presentations, etc.);
- providing monthly summaries of Blue Alert activations throughout the country;
- providing detailed accounts of heroism exhibited during a Blue Alert event, showcasing courage and selflessness exhibited in the face of danger;
- collecting of information on officers shot in the line of duty;
- preparing the annual report and other materials for the advisory group and public dissemination.
Funding Information
$150,000 is available.
Grant Period
24 months.
Eligibility Criteria
This solicitation is open to all public governmental agencies, for-profit (commercial) organizations, nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher education, community groups, and faith-based organizations. For-profit organizations (as well as other recipients) must forgo any profit or management fee.
