The grants are intended to build organizational capacity in communities that may not have the resources available to evaluate and develop transportation infrastructure projects. The RTA Program aims to help applicants advance projects that will qualify for federal funding and financing programs for additional development activities or construction, in alignment with the Departmental priorities of safety, equity, climate and sustainability, workforce development, job quality, and wealth creation, as described in the DOT Strategic Plan.
Two types of grants will be awarded: Single Project grants and Multi-Community grants, which will fund projects in, at minimum, three separate communities submitted under a single application.
- Single Project grants: $10 million available to award
- Min. award amount: $200,000
- Max. award amount: $750,000
- Multi-Community grants: $17 million available to award
- Min. award amount: $500,000
- Max. award amount: $2.25 million.
Grant Period
36 months.
