Details:

Funded through the North Carolina Arts Council’s Grassroots Arts Program (GAP), this program is intended to provide access to high-quality arts experiences for Guilford County citizens.

Project Support Grants

Centers multicultural perspectives led by artists with cultural roots, lived experience or artistic practice connected to one or more of the following communities: African American, Asian American, Arab American, Latino/a/x, Native American, or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.

Funding Priorities

Priority areas of support for the Multicultural Grassroots Grant are to support creative investment, inclusion, and community impact through organizational programming and projects. The grant supports qualified arts non-profit organizations that demonstrate thoughtful goal setting and financial planning and who do not already receive or are eligible to receive support from N.C. Arts Council.

  • First Priority: Operating Support for Art Nonprofit501(c)(3)-Organizations like symphonies, galleries, theaters, art guilds, choral societies, dance companies, folk art societies, writers’ groups and music presenters.
  • Second Priority: Project Support Arts learning and arts in education programs conducted by qualified artists. These can be artist residencies in schools, after-school summer camps, or adult arts learning classes.
  • Third Priority: Civic, municipal or community-based organizations providing quality art experience conducted by qualified artists.

Funding Information

Grant amounts begin at $500.00 and are capped based on current year funding budgets.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Organizations must have been operational for at least one to three years.
    • Art non-profit organizations in good standing with three years of operational experience that provide multicultural programming to the public may apply for operational support.
    • Non-profit organizations in operation for at least one year may apply for project support. (Start date prior to July 1, 2024)
  • (While nonprofit 501(c)(3) status is preferred, organizations that are nonprofit in nature but lack the IRS designation may also receive GAP subgrants if they meet funding criteria.)
  • Applicants must live in Guilford County and carry out projects within Guilford County.
