To support this goal, the coalition is offering Empowerment Grants of $10,000 to $30,000. The intent of the the grants are to:Â
- Build coalition capacity: Strengthen the coalition’s presence and impact within each state.
- Advance equity: Develop critical capabilities to prioritize and center environmental justice in the building decarbonization movement.
To align the Coalition’s work with Justice40 and the Climate Funder’s Justice Pledge, Midwest BDC has committed 40 percent of its annual budget to re-granting work, either through Participation Stipends for Coalition Members or through Empowerment Grants.
They know that environmental injustices have not impacted all communities the same – Black, Indigenous, People of Color, members of Frontline Communities, historically marginalized groups, and environmental justice communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
