The purpose of the Education Innovation and Research (EIR) program is to provide funding to create, develop, implement, replicate, or scale entrepreneurial, evidence-based, field-initiated innovations that improve student achievement and attainment for high-need students, and to rigorously evaluate these innovations.
The EIR program, established under section 4611 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended (ESEA), provides funding to create, develop, implement, replicate, or take to scale entrepreneurial, evidence-based, field-initiated innovations to improve student achievement and attainment for high need students; and to rigorously evaluate such innovations.
Funding Information
- Estimated Available Funds: $253,000,000.
- Estimated Average Size of Awards: Up to $10,000,000.
- Maximum Award: They will not make an award exceeding $10,000,000 for a project period of 60 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- An LEA;
- An SEA;
- The Bureau of Indian Education (BIE);
- A consortium of SEAs or LEAs;
- A nonprofit organization; and
- An LEA, an SEA, the BIE, or a consortium described in clause
- in partnership with—
- A nonprofit organization;
- A business;
- An educational service agency; or
- An IHE.
