The Foundation’s Helping Today grant program seeks to strengthen nonprofits that are addressing key issues in Erie County that align with the Foundation’s grantmaking priorities.

Details:

Helping Today is designed to support a variety of project types and be flexible in the usage of grant funding. Funding Areas: The Foundation has designated broad funding areas, including economic growth, education, health, neighborhood and community development, and regional vitality.

The Foundation’s grantmaking priorities and to demonstrate high potential for success, applicants will be asked to provide detailed responses related to the following:

  • Describing the importance of this project through engagement with your target population, the usage of relevant and reliable data or other means of professional assessment.
  • Offering at least two measurable, tangible outputs that can be achieved by the end of the grant period, demonstrating the project’s impact on its target population.
  • Describing the project’s target population, including key demographics and geographic areas served.
  • Identifying aspects of your organization’s capacity that will help ensure this project is successful, including experience of the leadership team, key partners, financial stability, cultural competencies and track record for similar projects.
  • A sustainability plan that includes financial resources to support the project/program after the 12-month grant period.

Applicants can request up to $50,000.

Grant Period

Grant monies spent within twelve (12) months of receiving the award.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 501c3 tax-exempt designation from the Internal Revenue Service (if your nonprofit does not meet this requirement, see information here regarding fiscal sponsorship)
  • Must be located or serve a sizable population in Erie County, PA
  • Must NOT have received a Helping Today grant in the last twelve (12) months
  • Must have completed reporting requirements of previous Helping Today grant.
