Details:
Organizations must be a currently established 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(19) with the U.S. Department of Treasury and authorized to provide services in the State of Connecticut.
Focus Areas
- Health- Medical or Mental Health services and/or education that address active gaps in the Norwalk continuum of care
- Education- Academic support to students (all ages) and/or parents that provide enrichment or direct tutoring
- Safety Net– Prevention or diversion services addressing a documented community need.
Funding Information
- An organization Annual budget cannot exceed: $1,000,000.
- Individual grants range between $5,000 to $10,000.
Project Period
An organization may only receive one mini-grant per 12-month period.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grants are made only to nonprofit organizations that have federal tax-exempt status, or if they fall under the umbrella of a parent nonprofit with tax exempt status as a section 501(c)(3) public charity, public educational institutions or to government agencies.
- An organization not currently recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, not for profit institution, may identify a 501(c)(3) sponsor to act as their fiscal agent.
- Religious organizations are eligible to apply for projects without a sectarian component.
- The applicant must provide services within Norwalk and funding requested may only be used to benefit Norwalk residents.
- Organizations must comply with all state & federal regulations pertaining to proper licensing, health and safety requirements and operating within the State of Connecticut.
- Organizations awarded in the last round are ineligible to apply again. Organizations that applied but did not receive funding can continue to apply.
- Organizations must be in compliance with reporting, requests, or other requirements associated with past funding from the City of Norwalk.
