This year’s RFP will focus on food access and community support for immigrant families in educational spaces. The Collaborative seeks to partner with nonprofits and educational institutions that are responding to the urgent and evolving food access needs of immigrant families and children in their community. While they are not experts in this field, they are committed to doing the best and learning as they go. They hope to demonstrate the dedication to supporting diverse community needs, beyond funding solely education programs, and hope you’ll agree this shows a broader and more responsive scope.
Funding Areas
This grant opportunity is intended to support food access and community support for immigrant families in educational spaces, with priority to organizations who have experienced loss of federal funding. They aim to support organizations that are community led and serve as trusted partners to immigrant students and their families.
Interest areas for this opportunity include programs that provide:
- Meal Programs: ensuring immigrant families are fed, including out of school meal programs. Ensuring students and families have access to nourishing meals both during and outside of school/program hours. This may include after school and weekend meal programs, food distribution, food boxes, food pantries, and any additional support for immigrant families navigating food insecurity.
- Strengthening Community: through connection and collaboration. Programs that are creating spaces of trust and belonging. Programs act as a gathering and safe space for immigrant families in order for them to build social connection through shared meals and community food events.
- Education and resource sharing: supporting immigrant families through education, awareness, and access to resources. This may include helping families navigate systems, offering information such as “Know your Rights” sessions, and promoting empowerment through educational programming.
