Details:

This initiative addresses several barriers that currently hinder participation for these families. Key barriers include communication and outreach, scholarships, gear, and cultural inclusion. Park City Community Foundation staff are actively working to address these challenges, but they recognize that there is not a universal model to address this issue.

The goal is create a more equitable and inclusive community. They would like to see 20% Latinx participation in programs that are currently being offered in Park City, mirroring the current demographics of school district.

Funding Information

Grants will generally fall in the $1,000 – $25,000 range.

Review Criteria

The Grants Committee will use the following criteria to review applications. These criteria are not exclusive, and the committee and staff reserve the right to use their own best judgment when making final grant awards.

  • Latinx Participation
    • Applicant demonstrates project/program will increase or maintain Latinx participation and contributes to a more inclusive and complete community.
  • Strategic Approach
    • The goals, timeline, and plan for completion are realistic.
  • Potential Impact
    • The project/program demonstrates short-term and long-term impacts.
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
    • Application describes the following:
      • How programming decisions are informed by members of communities they serve;
      • Staff or board has participated in diversity, equity & inclusion training or plans to in 2023;
      • Organization has a public-facing statement about commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion (on their website), or plans to in 2023.
  • Project Budget
    • Budget demonstrates funds will be spent to increase Latinx participation in recreational programs (not competitive teams). Note: Budget may include costs associated with staff, program activities, indirect costs, and other costs necessary to carry out the proposed activities.
