This round of the Aid to Localities Relief Funding, The Arts Ignite Grant features one competitive opportunity for funding for all community, education, and individual artist projects, with a focus on igniting arts and creativity in your community. Through these grants, they look forward to increasing equal access to the arts and those who create it across Livingston and Monroe County.
This support enables highly creative professional artists, teaching artists, and organizations to serve geographically, economically, and ethnically diverse populations in order to increase the vitality of local communities in Livingston and Monroe Counties.
Proposals must meet ONE of the following three criteria to apply:
- Community-based projects that are open to the public.
- Ex: The creation of a theater performance.
- Arts and Education/Teaching projects with sequential learning objectives.
- Ex: In-school, after school, or a community center program teaching weaving.
- Individual Artist projects with community impact involvement.
- Ex: Community interviews from women in immigrant families, creating a series of portraits reflecting the interview stories.
Funding Information
The Arts Ignite Community Grants are awarded in the amount of $2,000-$10,000.
Grant Period
Propose a project that takes place between January 1st and December 31st 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for an Arts Ignite Grant, applicants must meet all of the following criteria under ONE of the categories below as it relates to the project proposal:
- Community-based Project Applicants:
- A 501(c)(3) or New York State non-profit organization with an active board of trustees either incorporated in NY State or registered to do business in NY State.
- A government or quasi-governmental entity, or Tribal Nation.
- Individual artists, groups or collectives, and unincorporated entities who are working with an eligible Fiscal Sponsor or Community Partner are eligible.
- Lead applicants must be 18 years of age at the time of submission and may not be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program.
- Projects must take place in the same county as the Fiscal Sponsor or Community Partner.
- Attend one informational Grant Seminar conducted by GVCA’s Grants Coordinator or make an appointment for individual counseling prior to applying (mandatory for all applicants).
- Individual Project Applicants:
- Provide proof of residency in Livingston or Monroe Counties. Acceptable Proof of Residency must include one of the following items,
- Telephone or utility bill
- Credit card Statement (first page only; SSN and financial information should be redacted),
- Current lease or mortgage agreement listing the artist’s name and NYS county address,
- NY State Driver’s License or ID card
- Voter Registration Card
- Be 18 years of age or older by the application deadline.
- Propose a project which takes place in the county of residence.
- Attend one informational Grant Seminar conducted by GVCA’s Grants Coordinator or make an appointment for individual counseling prior to applying (mandatory for all applicants).
- Provide proof of residency in Livingston or Monroe Counties. Acceptable Proof of Residency must include one of the following items,
- Teaching Projects Applicants:
- All applicants must be individual teaching artists or artist organizations/collectives working with a specified group of learners, with a specific age group and a set intention. Eligible applicants may apply directly for out-of-school programs.
- Be 18 years of age or older by the application deadline.
- Attend one informational Grant Seminar conducted by GVCA’s Grants Coordinator or make an appointment for individual counseling prior to applying (mandatory for all applicants).
