The American Lung Association in Delaware, through a partnership with the Delaware Division of Public Health, is seeking applications from organizations to run tobacco and e-cigarette prevention programs. The initiative aims to implement policy, systems, and environmental changes related to tobacco use.
The grants are intended for communities and organizations committed to tobacco prevention and control programs in Delaware. These grants will help expand access to tobacco education and prevention opportunities for children, families, and communities throughout the state. The overall goals are to prevent the initiation of tobacco use, increase quit attempts among users, eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke, and advance health equity by addressing disparities linked to tobacco product use.
The funding amounts range between $10,000 and $100,000, depending on the project. However, requested budgets must fall between $15,000 and $25,000. Grants cannot be used for lobbying purposes, purchasing equipment like computers or vehicles, conference fees, class tuition, or nicotine replacement therapies. Additionally, funds cannot be spent on gift cards or snacks that do not meet USDA Smart Snack standards.
Eligible applicants include Delaware-based community organizations, non-profits, municipalities, cities, and towns. The grant is open to any organization with a strong commitment to tobacco and nicotine control, as well as those focused on improving social norms regarding tobacco use. The successful applicant will be responsible for evaluating the program’s impact, such as policy adoption and increased compliance with tobacco regulations.
