The Georgia NRCS, an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is seeking support from and opportunities to partner with likeminded natural resources conservation partners.

Details:

The goals and objectives of this program are:

  • Ensure equity in the delivery and implementation of all NRCS programs and services.
  • Increase assistance for climate-smart agriculture and forestry to support producers in building resiliency across their operations.
  • Expand conservation tools and support to address the unique needs of urban farmers, and communities nationwide.
  • Cultivate a complete and diverse workforce that has the right tools, technologies, and training to uphold the scientific integrity of NRCS.
  • Leverage innovative partnerships to expand NRCS’s ability to get conservation on the ground effectively and efficiently.

The objective of this Notice of Funding is to obtain Technical Services and Projects to enhance Conservation Technical Assistance and Farm Bill Program Delivery across Georgia.

Georgia will accept proposals that address only one of the topic areas below.

  • Soil Health
    • NRCS is advertising funding opportunities for Soil Health Management Systems (SHMS) which includes a collection of NRCS conservation practices that focus on maintaining or enhancing soil health.
  • Urban Agriculture and Conservation Education
    • Provide outreach and education in Georgia’s urban areas. The primary focus should be to expand efforts to educate new and beginning farmers & historically underserved communities on urban conservation and land stewardship.
  • Forestry Implementation
    • Assistance implementing Forestry conservation practices on small acreage (0 – 25 ac).
  • Pollinator Habitat Enhancement 
    • Provide demonstration sites and training for the establishment of native grasses and pollinators in the different ecoregions of Georgia.
  • Wildlife Habitat Enhancement 
    • Provide training, demonstration sites, and technical assistance to restore, enhance, and create habitat for atrisk/declining wildlife species and associated habitats, with emphasis on Northern Bobwhite Quail, Gopher Tortoise, and early successional habitats on working lands.
  • Georgia Native Warm Season Grasses 
    • This project will demonstrate the complementary use of Native Warm-Season Grasses (NWSG) to the introduced cool and warm season forage-based beef cattle grazing systems in Georgia.
  • Water Quality 
    • Projects would improve water quality buffer for nutrient management applications.

Funding Information

  • The Federal funding agency expects to award approximately $7,500,000.
  • The estimated funding floor for this opportunity is $25,000, and the estimated funding ceiling is $600,000.

Performance Period

  • Projects may be between 1 and 4 years in duration.

  • Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
  • Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education)
  • Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education)
  • Private institutions of higher education
  • Public and State-controlled institutions of higher education
  • Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
  • Special district governments
  • State governments
