Details:

The Emerging Leader Grants equip and empower rising nonprofit professionals at Christian organizations who are leading, influencing, and driving change in their communities. These grants are an investment in the development of an emerging leader and the program they are leading serving under-resourced communities in the United States.

Leadership development opportunities can include any of the following or other approved opportunities such as:

  • Participation in a Leadership Fundamentals course through The Center for Creative Leadership
  • Attendance at the Global Leadership Summit through satellite locations
  • Individualized Leadership Coaching.

Finding the Leaders

They believe investing in leaders and their programs when they are getting started can have a catalytic impact on both the program, and the kind of leader that person will be long into the future. The seek to identify leaders who possess these skills and characteristics:

  • Inspires and influences others
  • Clear communicator
  • Visionary and strategic thinking
  • Persistence and commitment
  • Develops trust within their team
  • Deep engagement in their community
  • A calling to this work, rooted in faith in Christ

Funding Information

Emerging Leader grants are $15,000 over two years for a new program led by an emerging leader in the earlier stage of their career at a nonprofit. Of the $15,000, $10,000 is designated for the program and $5,000 is designated exclusively for the cost of leadership development opportunities for the emerging leader to be used during the grant term.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Organization must be a Christian, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
  • Organization must be located within the United States and serving people in the United States
  • Program must be serving under-resourced communities
  • They provide funding for programs that are newer, have significantly expanded or entirely revised, or that propose a new and innovative approach

Ineligibility

  • Grants for programs outside the United States
  • Grants to organizations located outside of the United States
  • Fundraising campaigns
  • Event sponsorship
  • Funding to an individual (i.e. scholarships)
  • Planning grants
  • Advocacy and public policy focused work
  • Multiple Emerging Leader grants to the same individual.
