Downtown Events Heritage Grant (Texas)

Dated: April 15, 2026

The City of Plano offers a heritage preservation grant to eligible local nonprofit organizations that support community-led, heritage-related events in the historic downtown.

Donor Name: City of Plano

State: Texas

City: Plano

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 05/04/2026

Size of the Grant: Not Available

Grant Duration: 1 Year

Details:

Grant funds may be used for downtown events such as Plano International Festival, Plano AsiaFest or similar events. Funds to support this grant are generated from Plano’s hotel occupancy tax (HOT) revenue; therefore, the downtown events funded by the grant program must demonstrate how they will promote tourism in Plano and support Plano’s hospitality industry.

Priorities

  • The Plano Heritage Commission’s Mission Statement
    • To preserve and promote the City of Plano’s heritage, thereby supporting and stimulating local business and strengthening the culture, prosperity, and welfare of Plano’s citizens and visitors.
  • Plano Heritage Commission Goals
    • Recognize, protect, and utilize historic landmarks, icons, and cultures.
    • Increase public awareness and civic pride about Plano’s historic past.
    • Enhance commission members’ knowledge and understanding of heritage preservation.
  • Collaborative Fundraising
    • In recognition of the notable differences between available Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funds and amounts of recent grant requests, the Heritage Commission respectfully requests that some or all of the prospective applicants work together to develop a joint grant writing and fundraising program. The commission recognizes that most preservation organizations do not have the resources to devote to an active ongoing fundraising effort.
