The Department’s goal is to support a high quality of life for Hawaiʻi Island residents by supporting projects that help to balance Hawaiʻi Island’s economic, social, and environmental well-being. Through this RFP, the Department seeks proposals that demonstrate the potential to generate economic and equitable benefits to Hawaiʻi Island residents through capacities such as business income, job growth, increased accessibility, reduced expenses or reduced environmental footprint, and greater efficiency. The emphasis is on facilitating measurable, positive impact within Hawaiʻi Island communities.
Objectives
Eligible proposals for Impact Grant Awards under the Agriculture and Food Systems Program may address the following objectives:
- Increase consumption of local agricultural and/or value-added products by expanding marketing and/or education at the local, national, or international levels.
- Support research, development, control, and/or education that improves agricultural production, quality, resilience, and/or education that improves agricultural production, quality resilience, and/or producer viability or reduces the impact of pests or disease on agricultural crops, livestock, forests, or the community.
- Support collaboration, innovation, resource development, and/or programmatic sustainability throughout the food system to improve producer viability, resilience, or develop workforce development pathways.

- A total of $90,000.00 is available
- Award Ceiling: $25,000.00
- Award Floor: $10,000.00
