The Flexible Improvement Grant (FIG) pilot is designed to strengthen the Englewood South corridor-based businesses and commercial spaces by supporting one-time investments that improve customer experience, and long-term business viability.

Donor Name: City of Englewood

State: Colorado

City: Englewood

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 07/31/2026

Details:

The City of Englewood currently offers other grant programs that primarily support improvements to commercial properties, such as building upgrades and capital improvements. These  programs are important for maintaining and improving the physical condition of buildings.

The Flexible Improvement Grant pilot tests how targeted funding can go beyond building improvements to support storefront activation, and the customer experience. By supporting these types of investments, the city aims to strengthen both individual businesses and the overall vitality of the revitalization corridor while evaluating new approaches to business support programming.

Funding Priorities

Applications will be evaluated based on how strongly the proposed improvement contributes to corridor revitalization. Priority will generally be given in the following order:

  • Tier 1 – Permanent Corridor Improvements (Highest Priority)
    • Improvements that create long-term visual and structural benefits to the corridor.
  • Tier 2 – Semi-Permanent Exterior Improvements & Safety
    • Improvements that activate storefronts and improve the visual environment.
  • Tier 3 – Corridor Activation Events
    • Events may be funded when they help draw customers and activate the corridor.
