Under state law, revenue from the municipal hotel occupancy tax may be used only to promote tourism and the convention and hotel industry, and that use is limited to the following categories:

- Registration of Convention Delegates
- Advertising, Solicitations and Promotions
- Promotions of the Arts

Eligibility Criteria
Organizations that bring overnight visitors to Victoria—including arts, historical and sporting events—are eligible to apply for hotel occupancy tax funds. Only those events and programs that generate meaningful hotel night activity will be considered.
